Pengalaman : Asasi Sains Hayat UM

Assalamualaikum, ppl. Sorry for not posting anything a few weeks back. It's all because of invaders in my laptop. I'll tell in detail what happened in another post okay? And I will try to post on Thursday only from now on. So, this entry I've invited my schoolmate in form 4 and 5 to share her very own experience as a hayat student in PASUM. Becoming a PASUMian

Hai and assalamualaikum. First off, I would like to thank Ainie Mardia for inviting me to write about my experience as PASUM student.

If you’re a pasumian who’re reading this, congrats! Because you just become part of the oldest and hardest science foundation in Malaysia. Hahahaha, just kidding. However, I’m serious though. To those who don’t know what’s pasum means, it stands for Pusat Asasi Sains Universiti Malaya.

Okay, pasum ade dua aliran utama, iaitu Sains Hayat and Sains Fizikal. I’m a hayat student so I’ll be explaining my experience as one(if you’re fizikal, you can stop reading this, hahaha). Ohhh, lupa pulak, masa batch saya ade student APIDS(Asasi Pengajian Islam dan Sains) yang habiskan semester 2 diorang dengan budak pasum lain. Kenapa? You might want to ask that to different person. Hehehehe.

Untuk student hayat, sebab ramai sangat, nanti korang dibahagikan kepada Hayat 1 & Hayat 2.  Saya hayat 1,so,  masa semester 1, ade 8 subjek utama which are Mathematics 1, Mathematics 2, Biology 1, Biology 2, Chemistry 1, Chemistry 2, Physics 1 and Physics 2. And tak lupa jugak English for MUET, ni penting jugak especially yang nak buat medic tu, muet kena at least Band 4 tau ye adik2. Bukan nak pandang rendah tapi medic UM very competitive, so kalau student yang 4flat yang apply medic selalunya tak dapat sebab muet band 3. And then ade self development course, memang course ni paling ramai fly/ponteng/malas. Hahahahaha tapi not me okay. Review balik untuk sem 1, ade 8 subjek, muet and self development. Ohh and semua subjek yang saya list ni maybe jugak korang dapat masa semester 2, depends on system pasum batch korang.

Masa semester 2, 8 subjek jugak tapi jadi Mathematics 3, Mathematics 4, Biology 3, Biology 4, Chemistry 3, Chemistry 4, Physics 3, Physics 4. And by the time sekarang, korang patut dah ambik muet tapi English class still ade and wajib hadir yee. And then ade information technology course, course ni ala-ala macam subjek ICT masa kat sekolah dulu-dulu. Subjek ni paling best sebab boleh online kalau kerja dah siap. Hahahaha, ikut cikgu jugaklaaaa, nasib cikgu saya baik. Review balik sem 2, ade 8 subjek, English and ICT.

Now the boring parts. Dekat pasum ade lectures, tutorials and experiments/lab. Budak hayat ade 3 lab(lab chemistry, lab physics & lab biology) while budak fizikal ade 2 lab je(sbb taka de biology). Tadi saya ade kata ade hayat 1 and hayat 2 kan? Hayat 1 ade jadual lecture yang sama while budak hayat 2 ade jadual lecture diorang yang lain. Biasanya, lebih kurang 200  student dalam lecture. Lectures adelah sangat membosankan tapi try untuk dengar sebab masa nilah lecturer tu bagi tau apa yang keluar exam semua. Kalau tutorial pulak, ade lebih kurang 20 orang dalam satu kelas. Basically nilah classmate korang yang mesti dari hayat yang sama. Meaning, saya kan hayat 1, so classmate saya semua jugak hayat 1. Faham tak? Tutorials ni macam tuisyen, and ni paling best sebab tak faham je boleh terus tanya, kalau masa lecture ramai sangat, ramai malu nak tanya. And sometimes adelah jugak assignment yang carry around 20 marks. Banyak kan? Buat betul2, macam markah bonus tu.

Okay, labs/experiments pulak, lab reports kena hand in on the day of the experiment date. Maksudnya, korang kena buat lab report awal2 and then masa buat experiment, jot down results and conclusion. Finally, hantar dekat lab demonstrator masing-masing. Ni jugak salah satu ciri-ciri yang buat pasum ni agak challenging sebab asasi/matriks lain setahu saya memang tak wajibkan hantar on the day of the experiment

Kadang-kadang lain-lain batch mungkin lain sikit system tapi mostly sama je. Maksud saya lain tu, masa batch 2013/2014, lab chemistry tak payah hand in on the day of the experiment. Batch 2015/2016 kena pulak. Saya laa tu yang kena tu. Huhuhuhu

Becoming a KUAZian though was one of the most memorable moment in my life. No joke. The JTK worked their ass off to organize the activities, in a literal sense. They plan everything from A to Z, with the help of the fellow of course. What I’m saying, because they do all these stuff, they might get some privilege but I do think it’s justifiable you know? I’m not one of the JTK but one of my roommate was. She always at somewhere trying to sort everything out and she came back to our room, in average, around 12pm. No joke man and this happens almost everyday, worse when the event was like 2 days away, she might not even sleep at our room because it’s so late. That being sad, you can always hear people talk about how the JTK somehow bias in certain ways. For example, they had their own private space during exam week that only they can use, equipped with air-cond and a fridge. However, for all the things they’ve put up with, I say they deserve that room.

The events organized were fantastic. As a music lover myself, my favourite is the one organized by the KREATIF. The Art Festival. The activity that I joined was the “KUAZ GOT TALENT”, and I sang. Yeah, I have somewhat non-cringy worth singing. And my team won 1^st place for our block because we up against the other 3 blocks. So yeay me. It’s awesome.

Just join whatever events that they organized as many as possible and collect those merit marks so you can reassure of your application to degree nanti. 4flat je tak cukup dik. People wants to see that soft skill, the leadership and teamwork, so show it.

Pengalaman : Kolej Matrikulasi Selangor

Entry lepas, aku ada sharekan pengalaman kawan aku yang pernah belajar kat UiTM Dengkil. Kali ni, aku ada jemput kawan aku, bekas blogger untuk tulis satu entry tentang pengalaman dia sepanjang setahun pengajian kat Kolej Matrikulasi Selangor. Amirah Intan Syahirah ni dulu classmate aku masa aku sekolah kat Selangor. Dua tahun je aku jadi classmate dia sebab lepas tu aku pindah. Aku harap post ni boleh bagi manfaat serba sedikit untuk korang, at least have the roughest idea how's life in Selangor Matriculation College like.

Matrik life? Siapa cakap senang?! Tbh, sepanjang 6 years duduk hostel tula paling susah and (miserable) huhu. Tapi trust me, tak sesusah yang korang bayangkan.

Dia jadi susah bila korang tidur time lecture, tak focus time tutor, tak buat tutor langsung, time kuiz baru menggagau nak selak notes pe semua fuh i hate quiz! Mcm boleh kata selang 2 minggu ada kuiz tau! The first 2/3/4 months tu maybe susah nak adapt or maybe ada org takes forever nak adapt life kat matriks. Yela dulu time sekolah menengah homework tiru kawan, kat rumah selamba layan movie 3/4 pagi, dtg sekolah tidur pun still boleh score exam kan? (Yes, that's me) tp bila masuk matriks kau mampu layan movie time weekend je tu pun kengkadang bersalah sebab ada kawan yg study! Gila budak budak ni.

Dekat matrik ni, yg penting is, pandai pilih kawan and trust me kau perlukan kawan ☺️ even kengkadang kawan mcm hanet hasut kita berborak sampai tak focus dlm lecture, hasut tengok movie time weekdays tapi dia juga la yg akan tolong kau. Mesti ada kawan kau yg akan pro in certain subject or in certain topics so kawan lah dgn semua orang even kau rasa menyampah tahap dewa dengan dia. Biasa lah, bila masuk matrik or even U sekalipun kau akan jumpa mcm2 orang, mcm2 perangai, dari baik mcm "malaikat" (konon) sampai la perangai setan nak mampuih. Namun percayalah, kau akan perlukan depa depa semua ni (especially time nak dpt soalan bocor kuiz 👻)


Tapi, percayalah, matrik ni best. And and and rapat la dengan lecturer, bukan sebab nak sogok dia tinggikan markah PB kita tapi utk kebaikan kita di masa hadapan cewah. Memang ramai cakap susah matrik ni sbb yelah fast track kan. 10 bulan je pengajian.

i meant study smpai 234 pagi tu biasa.
assignment memang macam 24 hours tu study je.

fokus tu mesti lagi lagi org yang tak berapa nak cepat pick up tu kan huhu. kuliah kena 100% fokus. tutorial kena buat.
kalau boleh, lepas habis kuliah je kalau tak faham haritu jugak kena tanya lecturer.

no time for fun babe. Tp tak salah juga kalau nak fun gelak gelak sikit kang gila pula sebab stress sgt 😅
10 bulan tu kena struggle. 10 bulan je stress. Lepas habis matrik time tula kau rindu semuanya.

Oh ye kepada yg tertanya2 apa la tutor(tutorial) tu it's actually class. Class dkt budak praktikum kita je, kalau dlm kuliah baru campur banyak2 kuliah.

Yang penting is niat kita belajar. Tak kisah lah masuk matrik ke asasi ke diploma ke A-level ke even kau ambil sijil sekalipun semua ada susah senangnya, kalau rasa nak senang je takpayah la belajar :') tapi kalau still terpengeruh dgn hasutan org lain yang konon matrik ni "susah gila nak mati" kan, ikutlah, tu hak masing2, kalau dah rasa tak mampu nak bawa, jgn paksa. Kang menyesal sejuta kali tak guna huhu.

Pengalaman : Asasi Sains UiTM

Entry kali ni special sikit. Sebab apa? Aku ada jemput kawan² aku dari serata asasi untuk share serba serbi pengalaman dorang sebagai pelajar asasi kat institusi yang berlainan. Kira join venture lah. InshaAllah pengalaman yang dorang sudi share dengan korang ni akan beri manfaat.

First of all aku nak ucap terima kasih sebab kawan aku ni berbesar hati untuk share kehidupan dia sebagai seorang pelajar asasi uitm. Pengalaman kali ni adalah hasil perkongsian daripada saudari Nurul Fadhilah *schoolmate aku masa f4 & f5*

BISMILLAHIRAHMANNIRAHIM syukur ke hadrat Ilahi kerana masih diberi kesempatan untuk menggunakan jari jemari halus untuk kongsikan sedikit (banyak ok) info tentang Asasi Sains di UiTM. Pertama dan selama-lamanya TAHNIAH diucapkan kepada pelajar/mahasiswa yang akan menghadap Asasi Sains di UiTM, kerana dalam lebih daripada belasan ribu orang yang memohon, anda telah terpilih untuk menjadi sebahagian daripada mahasiswa di UiTM. Asasi Sains yang juga dikenali sebagai Foundation in Science (FIS) adalah salah satu program Asasi yang ditawarkan oleh UiTM yang berpusat di UiTM Kampus Dengkil (Kampus baru sejak 2015). Nak dijadikan cerita, dulu UiTM ni punya Asasi merata, ada di Shah Alam, Puncak Alam dan sebagainya. So, dulu Asasi Sains ni berada di UiTM Puncak Alam (PALAM) tapi sekarang Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) berpusat di UiTM Kampus Dengkil. Sebagai akak-akak pioneer yang tinggal di UiTM Dengkil selama satu semester je takde lah banyak sangat yang akak boleh share. Tapi inshaAllah akak harap akak dapat share sepenuhnya untuk adik-adik yang nak tahu tentang Asasi Sains di UiTM ni.

Antara subjek yang akan dihadapi oleh bebudak FIS di UiTM Dengkil ni ialah BIOLOGY, CHEMISTRY, PHYSICS, MATHEMATICS, CTU (macam agama) & ELC (English). Untuk dapatkan 4 rata yang sering diimpikan kita kena score semua subjek tersebut. Nampak macam banyak je kan. Bersyukur, sebab bagi akak subjek yang UiTM bagi taklah berat mana kalau ni bandingkan Uni lain. Tapi tak berat pun kenalah skor no matter what. Okay untuk system markah ni, 50% memang di ambil dari carry mark yang consists of 2 Tests ( Test 1 & 2 ), Quizes ( Depends on lecturer ), assigntments ( depends on lecturer gak), presentations (depends on lecturer), essay, dan sebagainya. Macam mana nk kira? Masuklah dulu. InshaAllah lecturer akan terangkan satu per satu. Lagi 50% tu depends on Final Exam kita. Untuk grading UiTM akak tak berapa pasti sangat tapi inshaAllah kalau carry mark above 40, kita dah boleh aim untuk dapatkan A- sekurang-kurangnya. inshaAllah. Tapi final memang kena pulun habis. Hehehehe. Okay kelas start seawal 8.30 pagi, paling lewat kelas 6.30 petang tapi jangan risau gap antara kelas tu 10 minit, sempat je nak nap sekejap (tipu gila) hehehe, kalau gap waktu Zuhur serious boleh balik rumah (Kolej) untuk makan and solat. Orang kata nak tidur 10 minit pun sempat je, sebab memang berlari je daripada blok akademik ke kolej. Tak percaya? Sebab Kampus Dengkil ni kecik je. Kawan jerit kat padang pun kita boleh dengar lagi. Biasanya akak kalau kelas 8.30, 8.15 pun relaks lagi jalan. Tapi, nak menuntut ilmu ni, kita kena datang awalkan, doa apa patut… jangan lah lewat-lewat tak baik. Okay macam mana system lecture/kuliah? Kita akan gabung dengan sebuah kelas je (paling sikit), paling banyak 5 kelas gabung sekali, tu pun depends on timetable. 5 kelas gabung sekali akan belajar dekat dalam lecture hall. Kalau 2 kelas je gabung sekali memang dalam kelas jelah. Tapi jangan risau cukup je. And Alhamdulillah selesa sangat. Don’t worry. 

Okay habis cerita pasal tu, kita bercerita pasal kolej pulak. Untuk siswa (lelaki) ada 3 blok kolej, Tualang 1,2 & 3. Untuk siswi (perempuan) ada 3 blok kolej jugak , Dahlia 1,2 & 3. Satu rumah consists of 6 orang , ada 3 bilik tidur dan satu bilik 2 orang. Apa ada dalam bilik? Untuk setiap bilik cuma ada katil & locker besi je. Memang kecik sikit tapi muat je nak solat and orang kata bila bilik lagi kecik ni lagi dekat, memang pun terasa ukhuwahnya~~ meja study disusun sebaris dekat luar, memang best suasana macam ni sebab kalau nak tidur, terus masuk bilik tanpa gangguan, inshaAllah ehehehe. Setiap rumah ada 2 bilik air (bershower) memang takkan berebut toilet pun, sebab tak semua ada kelas pagi. So jangan lah risau sangat. Ampaian ada dekat balcony, memang mula-mula rasa macam tak muatnya ampaian ni, tapi jangan complaint ok! Gilir-gilir lah nak basuh baju, fikir sebagai seorang hamba Allah yang tak selfish ye? Kemudahan mesin basuh ada siap pengering lagi haaaa kelas betul tapi jangan weekend baru nak basuh baju memang beratur panjang lah hahaha. So set time and hari yang tak busy untuk basuh baju. Kolej siswi memang dipagar so siswa takkan dapat masuk kolej perempuan. Nak jogging petang-petang amatlah digalakkan boleh je keliling kolej Dahlia untuk rasa secured sikit. Ada court tenis, netball, badminton di setiap kolej. Court futsal tak silap ada 2 tapi selalunya akan dipenuhi pelajar lelaki so nak tengok perempuan berfutsal memang jarang sekali. Setiap blok ada sediakan surau. Tapi nak rajin boleh jalan ke Pusat Islam untuk solat jemaah, tak jauh pun. Apa lagi ye? Cukuplah itu sebagai info paling random akak boleh kasi, nak tahu kenalah rasai pengalaman hidup di UiTM Dengkil, berbaloi inshaAllah. Selesa and sangatlah best! Last but not least, bila mana Allah telah memilih kita menjadi seorang pelajar, maka belajarlah bersungguh-sungguh hingga ke penghujungnya, kerana sesiapa yang berjalan ke majlis ilmu, akan dipermudahkannya jalan ke Syurga. Siapa taknak Syurga betul tak? Foundation life? Just relax and enjoy~ you gonna do it!

Jalinan Kasih

Assalamualaikum, dear readers. In this entry I just wanna share to you guys the things that had been making me soo busy this whole week. I was assigned as vice director for a program named Jalinan Kasih. This program was held yesterday at Rumah Bakti NurShaheera located in Cheras.

I was preparing for this program since last year and this week had been a very hectic week for me. Yeah, I had some misunderstanding and miscommunication with my director of the program due to some problems. And yup, I got carried away with personal problems. Sorry for that dear director.

This Jalinan Kasih program had given me such a valuable experience that I think I won't forget. The feel of being a vice director of the program was priceless. Even though I and the director was monitored by the Director of the Campaign. You guys must be puzzled right? How many directors are there actually?

Okay, lemme tell you clearly. From 7th March 2016, Kempen Mukmin Professional was held. This campaign takes a week which will end tomorrow. During this whole week, there are 5 different programs. Which are Malam Perasmian, Forum Perdana, Malam Berselawat, Jalinan Kasih (my program) and Malam Sentuhan Qalbu aka Malam Penutup.

For the program, we didn't get any sponsorship. So, me myself and the director need to find for some money in order to make this program happened. Alhamdulillah, Allah sent us a very helpful committee and they really give their commitment through thick and thin. I was so blessed.

They collected money from all over the place. The foundation lecturers, the staffs, the students from each kuliah, from the blocks and almost everywhere they could. And Alhamdulillah, the amount of money that they received was beyond my expectation. We were having our first test that time. But, they still manage to collect money for the program.  Subhanallah.

During the meeting, yeah I admit that not everyone manage to attend but nevermind. The moment when we were having our meeting to brainstorm about the module that we are going to play with the kids it was quite hambar. Seriously. Not much ideas came out and they were not such effective. But, we got something from the meeting.

Then, towards the event day, we the director of the campaign wanted us to do some rehearsal. Hm.. okay. Then I told the committees and Alhamdulillah almost everyone was there. During the rehearsal Ya Allah, only God knows how I was that time. Plus, my director was not there during the meeting because of some other problems. It was quite emotionally torturing. I knew that the other secretariat that are following are doing only one module but I myself had been posting the tentative since February and there are no response from them. How can I not be pissed off? So, with such good committee, they were willing to carry out 2 modules on that day. 

So, late at night towards the midnight we discussed about what module are we going to do for both modules. The first module that we discusses a month ago was not effective, somehow we need to change the module within just a few days left. The first module we decided to play Newspaper Fashion Show. The kids need to create an outfit with given theme (eg : traditional) with provided time.

For the next module which is the second module, we seperate the games. Some of us handled for the 11 years old and below and the other will handle 12 years old and above. I wanted to play with the kids so I take part with the first group, which is for the 11 years. They decided to make a huuuuuuuuge dam ular which we will need to do ourselves. Everybody was soo excited to play and have fun with the kids, so they were willing to give they full commitment to do and complete the dam ular within just 2 days left before 12 March.

The next day, we went out to buy some stuffs for the dam ular. Yeah, I went out with boys. But! Not with cab. We went to the mines with the campus bus. And we seperated when we reach there. Come on! I'm still with my principle. The journey to the mall was super torturing. Why? Because the bus was damn packed. I can't imagine myself standing at the edge of the platform. Ya Allah, my legs was hurt. Unfortunately,  the bus went all around the campus before it drove off to the mall.  

It was super duper torturing. Just after I left the bus subhanallah, my legs were shaking. I walked as fast as I could because I couldn't bare it anymore. Dah lah dengan perut yang lapar. My only motivation to walk that fast was lunch, chair and air cond. After I myself, Aini (my roommate) and Umairatul (my kuliahmate) we seperated to buy our own stuffs. Then, I got a call from Umairatul which request to buy stuffs for the program first, then we proceed with our own agenda. So that we can enjoy our own sweet time in buying our personal stuff.

So, we went in the Giant Supermarket to buy the stuffs. Yeah, it was quite 'enjoying' *I don't find the right word to describe the situation* Buying presents for the kids *oh God, I miss this* while wandering around the mall, we found our own stuff *lari daripada niat dah, hahaha* And what is more enjoying is when we were in the toys junction. Guess what?? We were the one who was excited when we found the toys! Hahaha. Funneh. Oh God, I just realised that I've wrote too long in this entry. I guess I better stop here and continue in my next entry.
